How Busy Am I Really?
The alarm blares. Should I snooze? No, time to get up. I roll off the bed, drag my hands across the wall, fumbling for the light switch. It’s official, I’m up. The light glares. Time to spread the bed and start my day. It’s 5 o’clock in the morning. I make breakfast, bathe, scramble to find an outfit, repack my unpacked work bag from the night before. I leave the dishes in the sink cause’ there’s no time to get them done. I’m strapped for time. I rush to leave by 6:20 because I’ve absolutely got to beat the school buses that rule the morning traffic. Time seems an illusion as it seems to slowly drift off in haste. The day is constantly absorbed by going, moving, and doing. Meetings, lesson plans, conference calls, tutorials, grading, and the list goes on. Where is the time to sit still and pray? There’s none, Right?
Long stretches away from God’s presence and from His word causes my mind to run a muck. How about yours? Those 10 to 15 minutes of quiet time with Abba in the mornings or evenings gets me pumped and rejuvenated for the day ahead and restores my ‘cup’ from the day that passed. He is the strength that is often missing from my days for He “restoreth my soul”. Who else can we turn to for this restoration? Shouldn’t this restorative process be a priority? But, how can we make room in our lives for our Heavenly Father?
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night- Psalm 1:2
Commit thy ways unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.- Proverbs 16:3
How to start prioritizing talking with God?
I’ll be the first to say that creating a schedule and sticking to it can be quite daunting especially if your day starts as early as mine does. But prioritizing quiet time with God is essential to staying and being grounded in the truth of His word.
- Make a schedule. Scheduling activities helps us to build routines. Routines lead to habits that then become second nature. It doesn’t need to be rigid, however consistency is key.
- Fill pockets of “free” time with God. At first, it’ll seem impossible to dedication 30- 45 minutes to devotion with God. So starting with 5 -15 minutes where you substitute scrolling on instagram or tiktok with reading a bible chapter and taking with God.
- Early Bird? Or Night Owl? Most of us are able to make time in the wee hours of the mornings right before rumbling of the day. OR in the late evenings right after everyone is settled in for the night. Work with what works best for you. I’m natural an early riser, but I’m out the door before sunrise on workdays so morning devotions aren’t ideal, and that’s ok. Evening communes with Abba works best for me and maybe it will help you too.
- Go to Church. Community is important, ‘Iron sharpens iron’ (Proverbs 27:17) so finding a church community and going consistently is underrated. We need people, people help us to be accountable. “I missed you in church last week”, “Did you get to review chapter 17? How did you find it?”… Small phrases like those reminds us that we are not along in this journey with Christ.
- Bible on the Go. (Get an App). I love love love Bible Apps! The one I most adore is YouVersion Bible App. There are so many features that keeps you coming back for more. This bible app has tons of devotionals that will read to you while you do tasks, it allows you to set reminders and my favorite feature it that it allows you to connect with friends where you are able to do devotionals together. And it also allows you to compare different versions of the bible. We bring our phones everywhere, so by having an app like this, you can take the bible with you anywhere.

Until then, Stay blessed.

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
Lol thank you for sharing. I hope she gives the beach a go at least once more

I have seen a lot of useful items on your web site about personal computers. However, I’ve the view that netbooks are still not nearly powerful more than enough to be a sensible choice if you often do projects that require a great deal of power, such as video enhancing. But for world wide web surfing, word processing, and most other popular computer work they are fine, provided you do not mind the tiny screen size. Many thanks sharing your notions.
Hello! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
